About David
I’m married with two grown children. Both of my kids are college graduates, my son graduated from Chowan University here in Murfreesboro and my daughter graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. Both of them work with the State Employee’s Credit Union as loan officers now. I’ve been married for 37 years to my wife Tammy.
I’ve worked in manufacturing for most of my adult life. I worked for a plastics manufacturer (Flambeau, INC) for 30 years prior to coming to Metal Tech. I worked my way through the ranks there, starting in our design department as a draftsman and then serving as Design Manager, Engineering Manager, Tool Shop Manager, to Plant Manager. I was the Plant Manager for that facility for 15 of the 30 years I was there. The plant closed in 2014 and I stayed on as a Territory Sales Manager covering NC, SC, VA, and MD calling on all our customers in this region, solving problems, and troubleshooting issues all over. I handled several large accounts ( Honda, Husqvarna, Stihl, etc) and was responsible for growing the sales in this region year after year. I did this for about 5 years and enjoyed the job, but just disliked the extensive travel.
I came to Metal Tech in 2019 as a Project Manager to help diminish the amount of traveling I had to do. I still handle some large accounts here, but the best part of my job now is that I am home every night.
I used to cook BBQ in whole hog competitions around the state, and have been ranked as high as number three in NC. I did that for about 15 years or so, and still do some judging occasionally now, but stopped cooking in competition just because of the amount of time it took up. I do still cook, but mostly for fundraising events to help others or things in my community or church.
I am also part owner of a gun shop with my son. He and I operate that place as a hobby more than anything. We have a lot of fun with it and travel around to gun shows throughout our area to sell guns and meet new people.
I am a Baptist and attend Menola Baptist Church and serve as a Deacon there. My wife and I live on our 150-acre farm twenty minutes from our shop, and enjoy the peace and quiet of country life daily.
